Wisconsin closes out the fall season in Minneapolis

MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin travels a state over for the Gopher Invitational in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Play is set to start on Friday morning and will continue through Sunday afternoon.

1. Westerman's wing:  Head coach Danny Westerman recaps what he's liked from his team in the fall and what they can improve upon come spring play.
"I've really liked the way our guys have improved week to week. We have had a development mindset from day one. I'm excited to have the whole team together at Minnesota this weekend to finish the fall. A focus has been on our fitness and singles play. Moving into the spring, we will place a greater focus on doubles which will of course be vital in the dual season. "

2. Wisconsin's last time out:  Wisconsin men's tennis sophomore Jesper Freimuth gave it his all in the semifinals of the 2018 Big Ten Individual Championships, but ultimately saw his run end in the final four of the tournament on Sunday.
Freimuth dropped a three-set match to top-seeded Tim Seibert of Ohio State. 6-2, 6-7 (5), 7-5 after the Badger sophomore won his first three matches at the conference tournament.

3. Gopher Invite:  This will be the second-straight season that the Badgers have played at the Gopher Invitational. Wisconsin will send the majority of its roster to the border battle. Tournament play will be held at the Baseline Tennis Center and will function as a flight system, with two flights of singles and doubles.
