UW lands four athletes on Big Ten honors list
MADISON, Wis. - As the Wisconsin women's soccer team (12-3-3 overall, 6-2-3 Big Ten) prepares for the first round of the Big Ten Tournament, it can take a moment out to celebrate four athletes being awarded postseason Big-Ten honors.
Midfielder Victoria Pickett headlines the honors, landing herself on the All-Big Ten first team for midfielders along with two other players. Forward Dani Rhodes was awarded Second Team All-Big Ten, Pickett and Rhodes were both honored at the end of the 2017 season as well with Pickett receiving first team honors and Rhodes receiving second team.
Defender Claire Shea, who has stepped into a starting role for head coach Paula Wilkins this season, was awarded Third Team All-Big Ten for defense. This is Shea's first time on postseason honors lists. Fellow defender Jordan McNeese was awarded the Sportsmanship Award for Wisconsin. This is also McNeese's first time on a postseason All-Big Ten team.
Wisconsin is gearing up to face off against Illinois (11-7-0, 6-5-0) in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament this Sunday in Madison at 12 p.m. CT. These two programs met earlier this season in Madison, a game in which Rhodes scored a double-overtime game winner to give the Badgers a 1-0 victory.
