MADISON, Wis.-- The Wisconsin softball team dropped the series finale to No. 17 Michigan, 8-0, on Sunday afternoon.
The Badgers (28-12 overall, 7-10 Big Ten) had 2,297 fans in attendance for the team's annual "Get to Goodman" game, breaking the Goodman Softball Complex attendance record on Senior Day.
Michigan (33-11-1, 14-3) opened up with a hot start in the top of the first inning. With two outs on the board, junior Tera Blanco blasted out a three-run homer to give Michigan a 3-0 lead. UM quickly put up two hits in the first frame but the Badgers retaliated in the bottom half.
Senior
Chloe Miller clinched the first hit off of All-American pitcher Megan Betsa, shooting a sharp hit through the right side. Junior
Brooke Wyderski followed suit and ripped a hit to left field, putting two runners on for Wisconsin. The bases were loaded up after
Sara Novak drew a walk to load up the bases but UW couldn't capitalize.
Both teams started the bats swinging hard in the first inning, each tallying two hits.
The Wolverines added a fourth run in the top of the second when Alex Sobczak doubled to bring home Katie Alexander, who led off the inning with a triple over right.
Sophomore first baseman

Details from the Dugout:
On the attendance:
"What an unreal group. Our group was awestruck during batting practice seeing the lines of people just waiting to get into our game. It's really a body of work that brings this many people out of how hard this team has worked. We're a 28-12 team and when you're coming off a loss it feels tougher but we're good and we've won a lot of games and we've made a lot of history and even the senior class has done some amazing things with all the ranked wins that they have. So to bring the fans out, it means so much to all of us."
On the senior class:
"This senior group is special. They work hard, they're going to be really hard to replace. Seeing Novak have the career year she's having,
Chloe Miller is just on a different level, and
Taylor Berry has gotten on the field a ton and had some big hits and
Kirsten Stevens went 9-0 in our preseason before we got to Big Tens. They've all done some great things and the whole group is hungry and they want to keep doing more but this is a day that you should step back and look at what you've accomplished."
On what she told her team after this loss:
"The big message I said was they can't take Friday night away from you. That's at the top of your resume when you talk about wanting to be a postseason team to say that you have a win against Michigan. And to be the first team to ever do it here, we've got a lot of pride to do that and have a freshman on the mound for us against their senior All-American. We've got a lot of pride for what we've done."
Head Coach Yvette HealyÂ
On her time here:
"These last few years have been a big growing experience and it's really kind of made me the person I am today. It's a character-building time in your life and to do this in Madison, one of the best cities in the nation, and to be surrounded by the best people has been a treat.
"To sum up the past four years, it's been growing into our roles and our roles as leaders. We've been at the highest points and lowest points of this program. So to be here and be with the team and create that foundation, it's just been special."
On it being her last home game:
"It didn't really hit me because it's not really our last home game. Today is one of those days where you have a record-breaking number of fans in the stands, they're all out here to support you and you want to give them a good show. So thinking that we get to come out here against Michigan, and there's a lot of energy in the air, we were just ready to have fun."
On what she wants to focus on as the season winds down:
"We're looking to make strides. We're definitely not where we want to be yet but by the end of the Big Tens and going into the Big Ten tournament, we want to get there. So we've got about nine games to do it, and with that it's about learning every game and making those strides and growing as people and as players."
