MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin women's hockey sophomores Alexis Mauermann and Kristen Campbell took home WCHA weekly awards after leading the top-ranked Badgers to a sweep of No. 4 Ohio State.
Mauermann was named the WCHA Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in her career while Campbell earned her third WCHA Defensive Player of the Week honor of the year.
In addition to her weekly league honor, Campbell was named the NCAA First Star of the Week, marking the first time a Badger has received the honor.
A native of Janesville, Mauermann recorded a league-high three goals to go along with an assist during UW's sweep of OSU.
In Saturday's 7-0 win, Mauermann scored twice in the third period to help the Badgers distance themselves from the Buckeyes.
After assisting on the first goal of the game, Mauermann scored the game-winning goal in the second period in UW's 3-1 triumph.
Campbell allowed only one goal on 36 shots to an OSU offense that came into the top-four showdown averaging 3.67 goals per game.
A native of Brandon, Manitoba, Campbell earned her fourth shutout of the year, stopping 14 shots as UW blanked the Buckeyes, 7-0.
