
Budde leads Badgers at Spec Towns Invitational

Sophomore finishes third in discus in Georgia
ATHEN, Georgia – The Wisconsin men's track and field team opened the Spec Towns Invitational on Friday with a couple of stellar performances, led by sophomore Riley Budde.
After coming off numerous personal bests set in the Aztec Invite two weeks ago, Budde continued his outdoor campaign with another best in the discus, upping the stakes set just a few weeks ago. The redshirt sophomore threw a massive 182-1 in the discus that would lead to a third place finish.
Budde would then move to the hammer throw where he would toss 200-0, only 13 inches off his personal best set in San Diego. The toss would earn the him a sixth-place finish. Coleman Nelson also participated and notched a throw of 159-7, finishing 11th.
Russell Sandvold represented UW in the 1500 meters and finished fourth with a time of 3:50.87.
Tyson Miehe also competed in the distance section of the track events covering the 3000 meters. Miehe finished third in 8:33.93, a time seven seconds faster than his personal best sent in the indoor venue.
Jake Wallenfang finished seventh in the pole vault with a mark of 15-9 1/4.
