Kelsey Card and sophomore
Ebony McClendon turned in top-five performances for the No. 10 Wisconsin women's track and field team during the final day of the Iowa State Classic on Saturday at the Lied Recreation Center.

Card placed second in the shot put with a heave of 56 feet, 10. Mississippi's Raven Saunders won the event with a stellar mark of 63-1 1/4, which broke the collegiate shot put record. Â

"Kelsey finished second to someone that threw the NCAA record and a world-leading mark this year," UW Director of Track and Field and Cross Country
Mick Byrne said  "It seemed like that Kelsey that was having a little bit of a rough day, but Coach (Dave) Astrauskas settled her down and she battled back."

Card's runner-up finish in the shot put came a day after she won the weight throw with a toss of 69-7, a season-best mark.

Redshirt freshmen
Kennedy Blahnik and
Banke Oginni also earned top-10 finishes in the shot put. Blahnik placed seventh with a mark of 47-1 3/4 and Oginni took eighth with a heave of 46-0 1/2.

McClendon also had a strong showing for the Badgers, finishing fifth in the 60 meters in 7.59 seconds after placing fifth in the opening round in 7.61. The sophomore's performance on Saturday came a day after she finished fifth in the 200 meters in 24.37.

"Ebony had a great weekend," Byrne said. "She's starting to hit her stride after a month of competition. She is getting better each week and that is what you want heading into championship season." Â

In the pole vault, sophomore
Taylor Amann tied for eighth with a clearance of 12-9 1/2. Redshirt sophomore
Jane McCurry also took 18th with a mark of 11-9 3/4.

In the mile, redshirt junior
Madeline Timm was third in her section and 28th overall with a personal-best time of 4:56.99.

Junior
Emma Reifel placed 26th overall in the 800 meters in 2:11.82, topping her previous best by a tenth of a second. Â
The Badgers host the Red and White Open on Friday at The Shell. The women's weight throw begins the meet at 3 p.m., while the women's mile is the first running event at 5 p.m.
