STARTING XI
1. The Wisconsin women's soccer team will keep their dancing shoes on for another round as they defeated Marquette 1-0 under the Friday night lights at the McClimon Complex during the first round of NCAA tournament action.
2. Wisconsin head coach Paula Wilkins makes her 11th appearance in the NCAA tournament as a head coach and fifth with the Badgers.
3. The Badgers will travel down south to make the program's 10th NCAA second-around appearance. Wisconsin will face top-seeded Florida on its home turf in Gainesville, Florida on Friday, Nov. 18 at 7 p.m. ET (6 p.m. CT).
4. The Wisconsin women's soccer program bowed out of the Big Ten Tournament after dropping their opening game at Michigan. UW tied the game, 1-1, but lost in penalty kicks, 4-2. NCAA Soccer Second and Third Round play will be at the Donald R. Dizney Stadium next weekend. Tickets are $7 for adults and $3 for children (12 and under), students and senior citizens.
5. Lavelle leads the team in goals this season with six and also leads the team in points (17). She's currently on a three-match point streak, the best by any Badger this season. She leads the team after putting up seven points in the last three matches alone.
6. Lavelle proved why she's one of the best to ever wear a Wisconsin women's soccer uniform. The senior rocketed a shot in the 30th minute to put the Badgers ahead of Marquette (12-8-2).
7. Micaela Powers and freshman Payton Wesley are the only players thus far to record both a goal and an assist in a game.
8. Goalkeeper Caitlyn Clem ranks fourth in the Big Ten with a goals against average of 0.77. Clem also ranks 27th in the country in goalie minutes played with 1878:33 minutes logged and her eight shutouts rank 35th in the nation.
9. This is UW's 19th appearance in the NCAA tournament. The Badgers hold a 15-17-2 (.455) all-time NCAA tournament record. Eight Big Ten teams made it into the first round of the NCAA tournament and all eight were host teams.
10. Three goals from three different Gators in a second-half span of 16 minutes gave the University of Florida soccer team a 3-0 win over Florida Gulf Coast in NCAA First Round action Friday in front of 1,132 at the Donald R. Dizney Stadium.
11. The Badgers have battled through 10 overtime games and 188 minutes of overtime.

GETTING TO KNOW THE GATORS
  • Florida is fourth in the latest RPI rankings while Wisconsin is ranked 36th.
  • This is the inaugural meeting between the Badgers and the Gators
  • Florida is the No. 9 team in the country based off of the final NSCAA Coaches poll and No.1 in their region in the NCAA tournament
  • They tout a 16-4-1 record and rank fourth in the RPI rankings
  • The Gators are the current SEC tournament champions, taking down Arkansas 2-1 in one overtime period.
  • Florida advances after its opening NCAA match for the 16th time in the program's 20 appearances.
  • Senior forward Savannah Jordan is one of 19 players in NCAA Divison I history to score more than 81 goals, and one of seven to reach that mark since 2000
  • Jordan leads the NCAA in shots per game (5.95) and shots on goal per game (3.19) and ranks sixth in total points (41) and ninth in total goals (16) and points per game (1.95)
  • Senior midfielder Meggie Dougherty Howard ranks 16th in the NCAA in total assists (10) and 30th in assists per game (0.48).
  • The two teams match up nearly even in the shots per game category. The gators average 17.6 shots per game while the Badgers lead the Big Ten conference with 15.2 shots per game.
LAST TIME OUT
  • The Wisconsin women's soccer team will keep their dancing shoes on for another round as they defeated Marquette 1-0 under the Friday night lights at the McClimon Complex during the first round of NCAA tournament action.
  • Lavelle proved why she's one of the best to ever wear a Wisconsin (9-4-8) women's soccer uniform. The senior rocketed a shot in the 30th minute to put the Badgers ahead of Marquette (12-8-2).
  • Lavelle marched down the field by herself and put the ball up high on the far post from about 20-yards out, beating Marquette's keeper, Maddy Henry, to put the Badgers up 1-0.
  • The game-winning goal was Lavelle's second gamewinner and sixth goal of the season. It was also the 22nd goal of her career.
  • Wisconsin never looked back, inhibiting MU from getting any good looks on goal, but it wasn't easy as the heat was turned on by both teams in the second half.
  • The second frame saw both teams attacking aggressively with a total of 13 fouls being called, including two yellow cards.
  • However, the Badgers' defensive front did their job, and prevented Marquette from finding the back of the net, giving the Badgers the win, and most importantly, an extension on their season.
  • Lavelle led the Wisconsin offensive attack, tallying four shots while junior forward Sydney McGinnis pitched in three.
  • The Cardinal and White swept the statistical board, leading in shots 11-6 and shots on goal 5-3 over Marquette.
  • Additionally, UW once again proved that they are the masters of the corner kicks, holding a 12-2 advantage over the Golden Eagles.
  • Junior goalkeeper Caitlyn Clem notched her ninth shutout of the season, collecting three saves to hold Marquette scoreless while MU's Henry recorded four.
  • Friday's victory proved to be extra sweet for the seniors who were able to come away with a win on their home field for one more time. Wisconsin improved to 15-17-2 in NCAA tournament games. The Badgers broke a longtime tie with Marquette, who were receiving votes in the latest coaches poll, and now lead the Golden Eagles 2-1-1 in NCAA tournament matchups.
BADGER BITES
  • The Badgers are outshooting opponents 121-73 since falling to the Hoosiers and outshooting their foes 67-39 in just the last five games.
  • With the 1-0 win over Marquette, the program now has 15 all-time NCAA tournament wins and advances to the second round for the 10th time in school history.
  • Junior goalkeeper Caitlyn Clem has tied her own record that she set in the 2015 season. Her nine shutouts this year rank eighth in program history. The shutout record also ranks 38th in the country. She's averaging 1.9 shutouts per game.
  • The Wisconsin women's soccer team is on a nine-match unbeaten streak, dating back to Oct. 1. The Badgers have gone 5-0-4 in their last nine games - including a 2-0-3 mark on the road during that stretch. It is UW's best streak of the season.
