MADISON, Wis. – After a month-long break from competition, the Wisconsin men's and women's swimming and diving program heads to Southern California for a Tuesday afternoon showdown with the USC Trojans. The dual meet is set to begin at 2:30 p.m. (CT) at Uytengsu Aquatics Center.
Wisconsin heads east after an intense training trip in Hawaii, as the Badgers will continue their 2015-16 slate on the west coast. The meet marks the fifth-straight year that UW and USC will face in January.
The Wisconsin men's and women's teams are both 2-1 this season in dual-meet action and are nationally ranked 15th and 16th in the latest CSCAA polls, respectively. Both the No. 4 Trojan women and No. 17 Trojan men are 5-1 on the season, as they fell only to Arizona in early November.
Prior to the Badgers' Hawaii training trip, the team competed in Austin at the Texas Invitational where a large number of Badgers notched NCAA-qualifying times.
Junior Chase Kinney highlighted the women's performances by claiming the title in the 50-yard freestyle and finished runner-up in the 100-yard freestyle.
Fellow junior
Matt Hutchins streamlined the men's team, as the distance swimmer swam an NCAA 'A' cut in the 1650-yard freestyle, besting his own school record and swimming the fastest time in the nation this season by just under three seconds.
Tuesday's meet marks the second time that the Badgers will meet the Trojans in a competition setting this season, as the pair were each in Austin at the Texas Invitational last month.
