Opening Statement:
We wanted to play for a championship. We got ourselves in a position to do that and I thought for three periods we played really sound hockey and over the course of the weekend played six real good periods, so I'm happy for the players and certainly happy for our staff.
On how the start of the game is huge and how UW seemed ready to go right from the beginning:
Yep, and we built off what we did yesterday. You beat a strong North Dakota team in their building and you want to come out with the same energy and start the game the way you finished things off last night. We were able to do that, and again, you score the first goal and then we were able to get the second one, so you get out of the first period up 2-0. It's a big confidence builder and then it's just a matter of taking care of details and continuing to do what you've done up to that point and I thought we did a pretty good job. We killed penalties. When we did have breakdowns, Ann(-Renee Desbiens) was there to make some key saves. Overall, six good periods of hockey, beat two strong opponents who had great seasons and we're happy to take the trophy back to Madison.
On the play of sophomore Sarah Nurse, named WCHA Final Face-Off Most Outstanding Player:
She played very well. Obviously if people hadn't seen us play, she would have stuck out very quickly in yesterday's game and certainly today, and it's nice that she gets rewarded. It was probably a month ago she was getting the same type of opportunities and for whatever reason, the puck wasn't going in, but she kept pushing herself and creating opportunities and this weekend she played very well and was a big factor in why we won the tournament.

Player Quotes

On how big it is to bring back a championship as a senior:
It means a lot. The five of us seniors for the past three years haven't been able to have the opportunity to play in this game, so we stressed that over the past week and drove that into everyones head and everyone worked hard in practice. To come out yesterday and beat a hard-working North Dakota team, that was big for us and that carried over into today's game and all the energy we had, like Sarah was saying, it's easy to feed off that on the bench and onto the ice. It's amazing that we get to take this trophy back home with us.
On how important is it to have such a great goaltender, as Ann-Renee Desbiens played very well:
Ann had a great weekend. Like coach said, if we ever had a lapse, she was there to back us up. She was definitely on her game this weekend and it was good to see.
On the mindset going into the third period after scoring the goal late in the second:
That goal was huge. All my line mates and defense were working hard to get the puck to the net and luckily I got my stick on it and it went through the goalie's legs, but that was huge. It's definitely a goal you don't want to let up as the other team, and as the team that gets the goal, that's huge. You get to come into the locker room with a lot of energy and you kind of have to settle everyone down after that and say "hey, there's still another period to go," but that was a big goal.

On what's going right for you right now:
I think just our whole team is playing well. We have a ton of energy. We're really excited to be on the ice every single shift, and I think just feeding off the energy from the team is really helping all of our game.
On your two goals:
The first one, Syd ( Sydney McKibbon) made an incredible pass. She was able to get it to me, I took the shot, it happened to go in, post and in. The second one I saw the puck go behind the net, I went to get it, and being below the goal line, I just kind of put it towards the goaltender and it happened to hit her and go in the net.
On the second goal and taking advantage of tired legs on the opposing side:
Yeah I think you can tell. It's hard when you get stuck out there for that long and I think just as an offensive team, you can tell when they are kind of down and out and I think we just needed to capitalize on that and we were able to do that.
