“I think defensively our team has done a great job to keep our opponents out of the zone and not allow a lot of scoring chances,” Desbiens said. “I tried to keep my game simple and the team did well in front of me.”

Brittany Ammerman, Sydney McKibbon and Blayre Turnbull all scored for the Badgers in the win, while Katy Josephs had two assists.

After a scoreless first period, the Badgers tacked on two goals in the second period. After a long pass from Josephs, Ammerman scored on a breakaway, beating SCSU goaltender Katie Fitzgerald glove side seven minutes into the frame to give UW a 1-0 lead. It marked Ammerman’s 10th goal of the season, and the second of the weekend.

Just over two minutes later, McKibbon tallied her seventh goal of the season to double the Badgers lead.

With just under seven minutes left in the third, Turnbull scored her second goal of the weekend to round out the Badgers’ scoring. After Ammerman got around two defenders, she passed the puck to Jenny Ryan who then set up Turnbull for her sixth goal of the season.

Wisconsin outshot St. Cloud State 44-15 in the game, and on the weekend outshot the Huskies 91-27.

“The kids are working hard,” Wisconsin head coach Mark Johnson said. “They’re sharing the puck and they are getting rewarded for it.”

The Badgers are now unbeaten in their past 22 road contests, and have not lost a road game since October 12, 2013.

“I think we prepared well all week,” Ammerman said. “We are used to playing on the road, we are getting some good chemistry and we are all confident that we can play with each other and we have good chemistry on and off the ice.”

Wisconsin takes its road unbeaten streak to New Hampshire next weekend for a non-conference showdown with the Wildcats.
