MADISON, Wis. -- In preparation for this weekend's games, UWBadgers.com caught up with freshman goalie Alex Rigsby (Delafield, Wis.) to get her take on the Badgers' series against Bemidji State in Bemidji, Minn.

Q: The team is one win away from clinching the WCHA title, have you guys thought about that at all and if so, how are you dealing with it?

Rigsby: No one’s really thinking about it too much. We know we have to go out there and give it our all every game and get the victories. You can’t think too much about it, and we still have the upcoming playoffs to think about so it’s tough to worry about that.

Q: After sweeping Bemidji State earlier this season, do you think their team has changed or progressed at all since then?

Rigsby: If you look through the standings, you’ll see that they’ve beaten the big teams. They’ve beaten Minnesota, they’ve beaten Minnesota Duluth, and you can’t take any team lightly from here on out. It will definitely be a good matchup this weekend.

Q: It’s been four months since you played Bemidji State, is it hard to prepare for a team that you haven’t faced in so long?

Rigsby: We will study the game film and go over all of that stuff, and obviously we’re out at practice and preparing for the weekend just like any other team we face. We’re not going to take anything lightly.

Q: As a goalie, how do you prepare for a new team with different offensive styles each week?

Rigsby: A lot of it is when you go through film you look at the plays they set up on their power play and where they put their personnel on the ice and stuff like that. If they put a person backdoor you just have to focus on that person. You also have to just know where certain shooters go and how they react.

The Badgers head to Bemidji, Minn., this weekend to take on the Bemidji State Beavers at the Bemidji Regional Events Center. Puck drop for Friday’s game is set for 6 p.m. CT, while Saturday’s start time is slated at 4 p.m. CT.
