ST. CLOUD, Minn. -- Wisconsin (19-13-4, 11-12-3 WCHA) got two goals from Patrick Johnson and one from Podge Turnbull, but those were not enough as the Badgers lost 7-3 to St. Cloud State (14-15-4, 10-12-4 WCHA).

After what had been a mostly uneventful first period, St. Cloud State got on the board first. The Huskies got their first power-play chance of the game, and capitalized. Garrett Roe launched a one-timer to tally the game's first goal at 16:17 of the first period. After an unsuccessful power play for the Badgers, the first period ended 1-0 in St. Cloud's favor with UW getting outshot 9-3.

 Fast Facts
Patrick Johnson tallied two goals, giving him six on the season
Joe Faust recorded his first collegiate point with an assist
Keegan Meuer recorded his first collegiate assist

In the second period, the Huskies extended their lead to 2-0 when a UW shot missed wide and the puck bounced around the boards to the neutral zone. Wisconsin was caught changing and SCSU's Travis Novak converted a two-on-one.

Wisconsin cut the lead, getting a goal from Patrick Johnson (Madison, Wis.) at 7:38 of the second. Johnson received a feed from Derek Lee (North Vancouver, B.C) in the slot and fired it in to make it 2-1 with 12:22 left in the second. Joe Faust (Bloomington, Minn.) also got his first collegiate point with an assist on the play.

Before the end of the period, St. Cloud scored again to take a two-goal lead into the second intermission. Aaron Marvin got the goal after a scramble in front of goalkeeper Scott Gudmandson (Sherwood Park, Alberta).

In the third period, with Jordy Murray off for a kneeing major, Roe again victimized the Badgers. He scored his second goal of the game and his fourth of the series to make the score 4-1 with 11:59 left to play. It was also Roe's second power-play tally of the game.

On the same major power play, Nick Oslund made it 5-1. Then after the power play ended, David Eddy added a backhander to extend the Huskie lead to 6-1 with 7:28 to play.

Wisconsin got a power play of their own after that sequence, hoping to gain momentum. However, this too went the Huskies way, as Aaron Marvin scored a short-handed goal for his second tally of the night.

Wisconsin made a late push, but it was not enough. In the final 30 seconds, the Badgers tallied twice. Patrick Johnson scored his second goal of the night, followed 12 seconds later by a Podge Turnbull (Hayward, Wis.) shot that found the back of the net.

SCSU outshot the Badgers by a total of 32-24. Wisconsin was 0-for-4 on the power play, while St. Cloud State was 3-for-7

Dan Dunn got the win for St. Cloud, stopping 21 shots to improve to 3-4-1. Scott Gudmandson made 25 saves, but fell to 14-10-1

The Badgers return to the Kohl Center next weekend for their final series of the regular season. Wisconsin takes on Colorado College. Games on Friday and Saturday are at 7 p.m. (CT).
