MADISON, Wis. - After posting the two highest single-game save totals of her career and backstopping Wisconsin to a series split with then-No. 4 Minnesota Duluth last weekend, freshman goaltender Alex Rigsby (Delafield, Wis.) was named the Western Collegiate Hockey Association Rookie of the Week for Dec. 1.
Rigsby made a career-high 37 saves to earn her eighth win of the season as the Badgers topped defending national champion Minnesota Duluth 3-2 in overtime last Friday.
The Delafield, Wis., native stopped 69 of 74 shots on goal in the two-game series with 37 in the win last Friday and 32 more in a 3-1 loss last Sunday. The Badgers (12-2-0, 8-2-0 WCHA) begin an eight-game road swing this weekend when they travel to No. 8 North Dakota (8-4-2, 7-3-2 WCHA) for a Saturday/Sunday series at Engelstad Arena. Puck drop is set for 2 p.m. both games.
