MADISON, Wis. The Badgers notched their ninth-consecutive home victory as they defeated Coppin State, 57-46, Saturday night at the Kohl Center. Wisconsin (9-2) used this win as a tune-up before hosting to No. 5 Texas Tuesday night. UW used its size advantage to own the glass. A 36-19 rebounding cushion led to 17 second-chance points compared to zero for CSU.

The two teams battled to a 7-7 tie before the Badgers began to exploit the Eagles '' zone with an inside game. Wisconsin ripped off an 11-0 run that featured six points from sophomore Jon Leuer. En route to mounting a 22-8 lead in the first 10 minutes, UW scored seven of its first 10 baskets from inside the paint. Coppin State would hang around the remainder of the first half, keeping the score in single digits, 31-23, at the break.
Jason Bohannon opened the second half with back-to-back 3-pointers as Wisconsin built a 39-25 lead. That cushion would carry through the rest of the half as the Badgers maintained a double digit lead throughout the rest of the game en route to their 57-46 victory.
Wisconsin also held Coppin State''s leading scorer Tywain McKee in check in the second half. McKee had 12 at the break, but finished with just 16 total points. Saturday marked the third time this season that Wisconsin has held an opponent under 50 points.
Leuer led Wisconsin''s scoring with 16 points shooting 8-of-12 from the field and pulling down six boards. Marcus Landry and Bohannon also scored in double figures with 11 points each. Joe Krabbenhoft led the Badgers with eight rebounds and shot the team' 's only two free throws, connecting on both.
Wisconsin returns to action Tuesday night as they host No. 5 Texas (9-2). Tip-off is set for 8:30 p.m. and the matchup will be broadcast live on ESPN2 as well as espn360.com.
