
Badgers tromp Wildcats in 8-2 win

The top-ranked Wisconsin Badgers snapped their winless streak against New Hampshire in a dominating fashion Friday night at the Fort Myers Skatium in Fort Myers, Fla. Five different Badgers scored as they beat the Wildcats 8-2 in front of the 347 fans that made the trip to the Skatium. With the win the Badgers remain unbeaten and improve to 13-0-2 while the third-ranked Wildcats experienced their second loss of the season.
Meghan Duggan, Carolyne Prevost and Angie Keseley each scored two goals while Erika Lawler and Hilary Knight each put in one.
New Hampshire came out strong in the first period. The Wildcats' Sam Faber scored an unassisted shorthanded goal a minute and a half into the game. Lawler answered at the 5:17 mark for the first of two Badgers power play goals.
The battle continued as New Hampshire took the lead on a power play goal put in by Kelly Cahill, but
Wisconsin closed out the period on top by scoring two even handed goals. Meghan Duggan scored at 15:33 to tie the game and Angie Keseley at the 16:46 mark to end the first period 3-2.
Wisconsin shut the Wildcats offense down after the first period, allowing them only five shots in the second and third periods. Jessie Vetter saved 12 shots in the win. UNH 's Kayley Herman made 20 saves.
Prevost scored her goals back-to-back in the second period to lift the Badgers 5-2. Duggan scored her second goal to close out the second period.
In the third period, the Wildcats only attempted one shot on goal as the Badgers took seven. Knight scored her first goal of the night followed by a power play goal by Keseley. Knight and Duggan led the team with four points each.
Junior Kyla Sanders contributed one assist as she played in front of her home crowd. Sanders' father Joe manages the Skatium and her family and friends came out in full support wearing 'I love Kyla' shirts.
The Badgers went 2-8 on the power play while the Wildcats finished 1-4. Wisconsin outshot the Wildcats 28-14.
Wisconsin will continue its stay in Fort Myers, Fla. on Saturday to complete the series against New Hampshire. The puck is set to drop at 2:07 (ET).
