
Badgers downed by Penn State, 3-0

Wisconsin fell to No. 25 Penn State in its fourth Big Ten match up. The Badgers who fell to 6-6-1 and 0-4 in the Big Ten faced the Nittany Lions at Jeffrey Field where head coach Paula Wilkins worked prior to her time with the Badgers. Penn State remains undefeated in the Big Ten going 3-0 and 8-5-1 on the season. The match was featured on the Big Ten Network, it was Wisconsin's only televised game this season.
Freshmen Laurie Nosbusch and Leigh Williams were Wisconsin's best chances to score each with two shots, and connection one on goal. Sophomore Taryn Francel also had a shot on goal but was unable to find the back of the net.
Senior Jamie Klages minded the net for the Badgers with seven saves. The Nittany Lions out-shot the Badgers 16-10 connecting 10 of their shots on goal. Both teams were even on corner kicks with four each.
All three of Penn State's goals were scored in the first half as Katie Schoepfer had two goals, one in the eighth minute and another in the 12th minute. Danielle Toney scored the Nittany Lions third and final goal in the 28th minute.
Wisconsin will return home with a match against Indiana on Friday, Oct. 10 at 7 p.m. The Badgers have had their best success at home going 4-2 at the McClimon Soccer Complex.
