Liebhold Claims Sixth in 200 IM on Day 4
August 05, 2006 | Men's Swimming & Diving
Former University of Wisconsin swimmer Tim Liebhold today notched the highest finish so far among any Badger competing this week at the ConocoPhillips National Championships at William Woollett Aquatics Center.
Liebhold was the first UW swimmer--former or current--to make an A-Final (top eight overall); he placed sixth in the 200-meter IM with a time of 2:03.06.
Also in the event was ex-Badger Adam Mania, who captured fourth in the C-Final with a mark of 2:05.43.
Another alumnus, Dale Rogers, won the B-Final of the 100-meter freestyle with his time of 49.78, which would have been fast enough to put him in sixth in the A-Final.
Meanwhile, senior-to-be Susan Johnson took sixth in the 200-meter backstroke B-Final with a time of 2:18.09, and sophomore-to-be Jennifer Illescas grabbed seventh in the 200-meter butterfly C-Final with a time of 2:17.98.
The National Championships wrap up tomorrow with the women's 100 freestyle and 200 breaststroke, as well as the men's 200 backstroke and 200 breaststroke.
