
Ryan Gets Win No. 500 at South Padre Invitational

The No. 7 Wisconsin men's basketball team gave head coach Bo Ryan his 500th career win with a 77-63 victory over Auburn Saturday afternoon at the South Padre Island Invitational. The Badgers' (5-1) win also captured a third place finish at the invitational.
With the win, Ryan became the 15th active NCAA Division I head coach with 500 or more career wins.
Three players scored in double figures for the Badgers with Kammron Taylor leading the team at 16 points. Alando Tucker chipped in 15 points while freshman Jason Bohannon tallied a career-high 10 points. Michael Flowers also helped the scoring load with nine points and Joe Krabbenhoft added eight points, four assists and led the team with eight rebounds.
Auburn also had four players in double figures with DeWayne Reed's 17 points leading all scorers.
After dropping their first game of the season yesterday against Missouri State, the Badgers came out strong against Auburn (4-2) and scored the first 10 points of the game. Wisconsin controlled the lead the whole half but the Tigers got as close three at the 4:25 mark. Flowers then stepped up for the UW as he scored the next six points to go up 34-25. Taylor notched a free throw to put Wisconsin up ten (35-25) at the half.
In the second, the Badgers went up 16 over the Tigers early in the half but Auburn then managed to cut the lead to eight at 46-54. Wisconsin remained in control and rattled off nine straight points down the stretch for its biggest lead of the game of 19 points at 75-56. Jason Bohannon finished the UW scoring with two free throws as Wisconsin closed out Auburn, 77-63.
After soaking up the sun in South Padre Island, Texas, the Badgers return to the Kohl Center Tuesday night to host Florida State in the annual Big Ten/ACC match-up. Tip off is set for 6:30 p.m.
