Badgers Top Old Dominion 84-81, Take Paradise Jam Title

For the third straight game, a University of Wisconsin men's basketball player reached a career high in points to lead the team to a win, and Monday night, it was Kammron Taylor and his 27 points as Wisconsin defeated Old Dominion 84-81 to win the Paradise Jam Tournament Monday night at the Sports and Fitness Center.
Taylor also was the game's leading rebounder with eight and was 4-of-9 from beyond the arc for the Badgers (3-0), who hit crucial free throws in the final 12 seconds'including 4-of-4 from Marcus Landry'to win their third straight game.
After starting 5-of-9 from the free throw line, UW made 18-of-21 in a high-scoring second half that saw Landry earn all 12 of his points. Alando Tucker added 20 points for the game and was named tournament MVP.
Arnaud Dahi went 10-of-15 from the field en route to 25 points for the Monarchs (2-1), who were outrebounded 40-29. Alex Loughton chipped in 22 points and Drew Williamson had six rebounds and six assists.
'We did well enough to get it taken care of against an experienced team,' head coach Bo Ryan said. 'We played two NCAA tournament teams (in this tournament) ' and hopefully the guys will learn something from this and gain some experience.'
Taylor, who recorded 12 points in the first half, drained a 3-pointer with a little more than a minute left in the opening frame to give Wisconsin a 32-31 lead. However, Old Dominion scored the next five points to enter the break ahead 36-32.
UW was behind for the first 10 minutes of the final period until a series of plays that included Landry nailing a 3-point bucket, Jason Chappell blocking a shot and Landry putting back Chappell's miss evened the game at 57-57.
Michael Flowers made a 3-point basket with 7:34 showing on the clock to give Wisconsin a lead it would not relinquish.
The Badgers return to the Kohl Center for their home opener, a contest against Coastal Carolina at 7 p.m. Saturday.
