Badgers Welcome Maryland for ACC-Big Ten Challenge
November 30, 2004 | Men's Basketball
A 30-game home winning streak is on the line at the Kohl Center Tuesday evening as the Wisconsin men's basketball team plays host to Maryland as part of the ACC-Big Ten Challenge. Tipoff is set for 8:30 p.m with ESPN2 providing live television coverage.
The Badgers (2-1 overall), who are ranked 25th in the most recent Associated Press poll, are coming off their first loss of the season Saturday night at Pepperdine, 75-61.
Meanwhile, Maryland is ranked 12th in the latest AP poll and comes into the contest with a perfect 3-0 record.
This will be the third meeting between the teams in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge. Both previous matchups in the Challenge between the Badgers and the Terrapins have gone to overtime. Maryland won last year's contest 73-67 in College Park, while UW won the 2000 contest 78-75 in Milwaukee. Wisconsin is 1-4 all-time in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge.
Tonight's game will be the sixth meeting overall between the teams, including the fourth in the last five years. Wisconsin leads the all-time series 3-2.
The Badgers' 30-game home win streak trails only Stephen F. Austin (31) as the longest current stretch of consecutive wins at home in the country.
