Now in his ninth season at the helm of the UW women's program, Duerst is the longest tenured UW women's soccer coach. Duerst, who began his work with the UW women's program in 1987 as an assistant coach under Greg Ryan, was there for the Badgers' 1988 NCAA semifinal appearance, the 1991 NCAA second-place finish.
A Madison native and former UW men's soccer athlete, Duerst has led the women's program to Big Ten post- and regular-season titles in 1994 and 1996, respectively, and five NCAA tournament appearances.
This year, the women's soccer team is 2-1-1 after two road tournaments to start the season and seventh ranked in the NSCAA/adidas Great Lakes regional poll. The Badgers kick off their 2002 home schedule this weekend in the Rocky Rococo Classic at the McClimon Soccer Complex.
