Piper Named Big Ten Swimmer of the Week

Park Ridge, Ill. ' The Big Ten Conference named sophomore distance freestyler Carly Piper its Women's Swimmer of the Week Tuesday. Piper was honored for her performance against Northwestern last weekend.
Piper led the way for the Badgers taking the 1000 free (9:59.83), the 500 free (4:49.66) and the 200 free (1:50.34). Piper was also a member of the first-place 400 free relay (3:25.30). Piper's performance this weekend helped the No. 13 Wisconsin women's swimming and diving team beat the Northwestern Wildcats, 172-125.
It is the second weekly conference award for the four-time Big Ten champion. The 2002 Big Ten Swimmer of the Championships and 2002 Big Ten Freshman of the Year won the 200 free, 500 free, 1,650 free and was a member of the winning 800 free relay at the 2002 Big Ten Championships.
