Three different Badgers scored for the White team in the annual women's soccer Red/White scrimmage Sunday afternoon at the McClimon Soccer Complex.
'It gives us another great picture of how we're playing as a team,' coach Dean Duerst said. 'We'll show [the team] the film and some of the things we need to clean up defensively. There are some things we need to sharpen up.'
Junior Lauren Schmidt put the White team on the board with a successful penalty kick in the first half. Senior Kelly Kundert would score White 's second goal, firing the ball past fellow senior Jodi Zilinski in net.
The Badger youth was represented by freshman Amy Vermeulen, who scored the only goal of the second half and the final goal of the day. Vermeulen is one of 12 freshmen on this year's Badger squad.
Junior goalkeeper Kelly Conway registered the shutout for the White team.
'What I've seen in a years time; we've got a much deeper team,' Duerst said. 'And that's made our preseason a better preseason. Hopefully that will give us the edge in the games next week. '
The Badgers begin the regular season on the road next weekend, facing Colorado Aug. 31 and Colorado College Sept. 2.
