Shane Burgess is in his first year as the Assistant AD for Event Operations inafter serving six years as the Director of Event Managment at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Prior to his appointment as director, he served as Associate Director of Events and Operations from 2016-2019, Assistant Director of Camps and Events from 2013-2016 and Event Manager from 2012-2013.
In his current role, he is responsible for the management of athletic department hosted events including football, men’s basketball, rowing, facility rentals, concerts, university functions including spring commencement at Camp Randall Stadium, the annual Crazylegs Classic, and the football and boys’ basketball WIAA State High School Championships.
Outside of Wisconsin Athletics, Burgess has also enjoyed an active role at the Big Ten Men’s Basketball Conference Championship, serving as a team liaison since 2015. He served as the president of the Collegiate Athletic Operations Conference (CAOS) in 2019, the programming chair from 2017-19 and was on the programming committee from 2015-17. Burgess is also a member of the Collegiate Events and Facilities Manager Association (CEFMA).
Prior to Wisconsin, Burgess served as an usher and usher supervisor at the Jerome Schottenstein Center from 2007 to 2012 and as intern in the Event Management and Camps Office at The Ohio State University from 2009 to 2012.
A native of Dover Ohio, Burgess earned his bachelor’s degree in education with a minor in homeland security from The Ohio State University in 2011.
Burgess and his wife Kayla, currently reside in Dane, Wisconsin.
