Scott Power joined the Badgers staff as the Assistant Defensive Backs Coach t in January 2025. Power will coach the Badger Nickels and arrives in Madison after one season as the Defensive Coordinator at Western Michigan.
With experience as a defensive coordinator at multiple levels of college football, Power led the Western Michigan defense in 2024. Power’s unit forced 21 turnovers, the third-most in the MAC. Defensive back Tate Hallock picked off four passes, the third-most in the conference, and earned second-team all-conference honors.
Prior to his stint at Western Michigan, Power spent two seasons at Louisiana Tech, helping the Bulldogs defense rank in the top 25 in turnovers gained in 2022. He coached one All-American and seven Conference USA All-Conference selections and helped La Tech recruit the top-ranked recruiting class in CUSA in 2024.
Prior to his time at La Tech, he spent three seasons as the defensive coordinator at Stephen F. Austin. Under his command, the Lumberjacks consistently ranked as a top defense in the FCS, leading the Western Athletic Conference in scoring defense, total defense, takeaways, sacks and tackles for loss in 2021. Power also made stops as a defensive coordinator at Texas A&M Commerce, Central Washington, Marian and Wartburg College.
During his playing career, Power was a two-year starter at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville from 2000-01 before transferring to Hanover College where he spent his final two seasons. Power holds a Business Management and Economics degree from IUPUI.
Power and his wife, Megan, have two sons, Troy and Thad, and two daughters, Tatum and Teryn.
