Michelle Nason is in her fifth season as the Badgers' director of operations. In her role, she is in charge of team travel and the summer golf outing.
Nason joined the Badgers staff after serving as an assistant coach at Marquette University from 1995-2014. She served as the associate head coach/recruiting coordinator from 2012-14, signing an NCAA Top 30 recruiting class in 2014. While at Marquette, Nason recruited and coached four first-team All-Big East performers, including the 2014 Big East Scholar Athlete of the Year and two WNBA draft picks. Nason helped guide the Golden Eagles to 15 post-season appearances, including seven NCAA tournament bids and the 2008 WNIT National Championship.
“Michelle is one of the hardest working coaches in women’s basketball,” Tsipis said. “She has been a successful assistant coach for multiple NCAA tournament teams. She has a great basketball mind and the innate ability to bring out the best in the players she has coached. I have known Michelle since my first year at Notre Dame and always hoped we would have the opportunity to work together. She understands the pride of Wisconsin basketball, is an excellent motivator and communicator, and is extremely well organized.”
Prior to joining Marquette's coaching staff, Nason was a standout at Bradley University. She averaged 16.6 points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.5 assists while ranking among the top long-distance shooters in the nation as a senior. She was selected to participate in the College 3-Point Shooting Championship at the 1995 Men's Final Four in Seattle, Washington.
Nason is Bradley’s all-time leading 3-point field goal percentage leader, ranks second all-time in free throw percentage (.906), and third all-time in scoring average (16.0). A native of Iowa City, Iowa, Nason started her college career at Western Illinois where she played for two seasons before transferring to Bradley. She finished her four-year career with 1,597 points.
A native of Iowa City, Iowa, Nason received her bachelor's degree in psychology from Bradley in 1995.
