Emily Engel

Emily Engel is in her third year fulfilling the role of assistant director of operations/video coordinator for the men’s hockey program.

Engel joined the Badgers before the start of the 2014–15 season as the video coordinator for both the men’s and women’s Wisconsin hockey programs after one year as the video coordinator for the Badger women’s basketball team. 

Her duties for basketball included coaches’ video, as well as some creative video for the scoreboard and other team highlight videos throughout the year.

The Fort Collins, Colorado, native graduated from the University of Colorado in 2013 with a degree in cinematography and film/video production. While there, she served as a volunteer videographer for the men’s and women’s club hockey teams, as well as the men’s club lacrosse squad. She also played club hockey for the Buffs and helped coordinate their web site and social media.  

Engel has international experience, serving as the hockey video coordinator for the U.S. Women’s National University Team as they competed in the World University Games in Trentino, Italy, in December 2013. She also traveled to Dmitrov, Russia, as video coordinator and helped Team USA win gold at the 2018 International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) Under-18 Women’s World Championship.

She also worked as a video coordinator at the USA U15 Girl’s Player Development Camp in the summer of 2015 and in 2017 at the USA U18 Girl’s Player Development Camp. Both took place in St. Cloud, Minnesota. She also helped with the She also helped with the 2017-2019 USA Hockey National Festival in Lake Placid, New York. Finally, she was apart of the staff for the 2019 gold medal finish of the Women's World Championship in Espoo, Finland.

Engel, who spent 2003–08 growing up in Middleton, Wisconsin, has on-ice experience that predates her college days. She started playing hockey in middle school and began a career as a goaltender her freshman year of high school. She ended up playing four years of high school hockey for the Madison Metro Lynx, a co-op team that included Middleton High School. She has also been officiating since 2011 ranging from peewees all the way up to high school boys’ hockey.

Engel now resides in Monona with wife Spencer.
