Wisconsin has always been known to have some of the rowdiest students in the NCAA and AreaRED was created by UW Athletics during the summer of 2018 to enhance and organize this experience.

Alando Tucker, Badger basketball player and coach, came up with the idea for AreaRED and advocated for its creation. Tucker came up with the name “AreaRED” as he wanted something that was popular yet could relate to Wisconsin Athletics. During that time, Area51 was trending on social media, which sparked Tucker into thinking of the name “AreaRED” He wanted the logo to be different from Wisconsin Athletics branding since he wanted the student’s to have this. The construction like style of the logo was modern and appealing and now, the AreaRED logo can be seen all over campus.

In the fall of 2019, AreaRED became an official student org within the University of Wisconsin with a goal to foster Badger pride within UW students, alumni, and fans through athletic events, student involvement, and philanthropy.

AreaRED is operated by an executive board of UW students and to find out how you can be involved with AreaRED, visit the Board Members page and apply for a committee or board position! Go Badgers and On Wisconsin!
