UW finishes in 15th after second day of the Cougar Classic

Slocum leads Badger with a career-best score
HANAHAN, S.C. — UW landed a 15th place finish after three rounds of play at the Cougar Classic, carding a 24-over par (291-292-293=876).
Slocum was joined by Kate Brody and Tammy Wu, collecting three birdies each. Wu made par, carding a 71 and three birdies, tying for 48th place. Brody finished just one-over-par, tying for 67th.
Izzi Stricker and Jillian Bowman wrapped up the Badgers scorecard for the tournament. Stricker finished tied for 81st and Bowman for 87th. The pair individually shot an 80 and a 77.
In two rounds, Grace Slocum shot a 137, matching the school 36-hole record and ending today's tournament tied for second place.
Slocum stayed tied for first throughout the first round and the majority of the second round, collecting nine birdies across 36 holes.
In the first round of play, UW tied for 11th and shot a 291. Izzi Stricker hit three-over-par, finding two birdies.
Seniors Kate Brody and Tammy Wu each carded a four-over 75, while Jillian Bowman rounded out the Badgers lineup shooting six-over-par.
The team stayed consistent heading into the next 18 holes, shooting an eight-over 292.
Slocum kept up her hot streak for the second round of play as she made par.
Sticker stayed in the top-50, finding herself tied for 42nd place at the end of the day at five-over.
Wu finished the second round tied for 59th, carding one-over 72, placing her six-over after two rounds.
Brody and Bowman shot five-over par, placing in T74 and T86 respectively. Both golfers found two birdies each.
The Badgers will return to the course tomorrow on Tuesday, September 8th for a second day of play at the Cougar Classic.
