
Badgers finish third at Badger Invitational

UW once again led by sophomore Grace Slocum
MADISON, Wis. – After three days of play at the Badger Invitational, the Wisconsin women's golf team placed third at seven-over par.
Round 1
Wisconsin tied for fifth after the first day of the Badger Invitational, carding a 293 across 18 holes.
Tammy Wu led the Badgers, tying for fourth and finishing two-under-par with five birdies. Grace Slocum tied for 23rd with a one-over 73.
Another duo of Badgers also shared the same results, tying for 45th. Izzi Stricker and Jillian Bowman each carded a 75, finishing the first day three-above-par. Stricker also collected an eagle on her first hole of the tournament.
Kate Brody rounded out UW's group competition, tallying a 79 to land her in a tie for the 73rd spot.
Tying for 51st, Elyssa Abdullah carded a 76, shooting four-above-par. Abdullah collected two birdies. Lauren Sammon finished tied for 66th while carding a 78.
With three birdies, Hadley Ashton tied for 80th place, garnering an 80. Close behind her was Cara Carter with an 82, finishing tied for 84th.
Round 2
UW finished out the second round in third place after combining for a one-over 289.
Slocum and Bowman each shot a 71 and got four birdies to land tied for eighth and 14th, respectively.
Wu collected three birdies, carding a 74. The graduate student shot just two-over-par to finish the round tied for eighth.
Stricker tallied a one-over 73 with two birdies, while Brody rounded out the team lineup with a four-over 76.
As individuals, Abdullah and Carter each shot a six-over 78, with Abdullah finishing the day in 62nd place and Carter in 84th.
Sammon followed closely with a seven-over 79 to place 74th, and Ashton closed out the second round scorecard with a 13-over 85 to place 88th.
Round 3
The Wisconsin women's golf team finished in third place after the final round of the Badger Invitational. Across 54 holes, the Badgers shot a 7-over-par (293+289+289=871).
The Badgers played the first nine holes of round three on Monday before completing the final nine on Tuesday to close out the home tournament. Slocum and Wu each earned a top-five finish.
Slocum came in fourth, hitting one-under-par at 71 with three birdies. With four birdies, Wu made par, carding a 72 to finish tied for fifth.
Ending tied for 22nd, Bowman hit five-over-par 75. Stricker struck four-over, tallying three birdies to land her tied for 33rd place.
Brody also caught the four birdie bug. The senior shot a 71, her lowest score of the tournament, placing tied for 38th.
Sammon jumped up fourteen places in the leaderboard after carding a 73, finding three birdies to land tied for 60th.
Tied for 77th, Elyssa Abdullah collected two birdies, shooting an 82.
Rounding out UW's scorecard for its individual competitors were Carter and Ashton. The duo came in 87th and 89th after tallying a 10-over 82 and 11-over 83 in the final round.
