Badgers sweep the Badger Classic to open the 2026 campaign

Phillips picks up win to lead UW to victory over No. 11 Northwestern
MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin women's cross country team opened its 2026 campaign with a victory at home at the Badger Classic at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Course on Friday.
The Badgers posted a perfect score of 15 points to win the first meet of the season. No. 11 Northwestern finished with 40 points.
Junior Liv Phillips finished first for UW with a 6K time of 22 minutes, 23.9 seconds. Phillips finished just ahead of senior Mikaela Helling, who finished in 22:25.0.
Myra Stray was the third Badger to cross the line in 22:30.2 while Zaira Malloy-Salgado took fourth in 22:33.4. Freshman Emmerson Drobac was one of six freshmen to make her debut for the Cardinal and White on Friday, finishing fifth in 22:35.0
Up Next: The Badgers will head to Terre Haute, Indiana for the John McNichols Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 19.
