Red card dooms the Badgers in East Lansing

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The No. 13 Wisconsin men's soccer team (5-2-2, 0-2-2 B1G) dropped a match against No. 11 Michigan State (7-1-1, 3-0-0 B1G), 3-0. The match was even at zero before a red card against the Badgers gave the Spartans an advantage.

How it Happened:
The match was intense from the start with both sides bringing pressure. Michigan State put the first shot on target in the second minute, but Judewellin Michel made a diving save to keep the Spartans off the board.

The Badgers were gaining momentum before a VAR review in the 35th minute gave a red card to Wisconsin's Aidan Martinez.

Michigan State took advantage of playing up a man, scoring its first goal of the half in the 42nd minute, courtesy of Richie Ludwig. The Spartans went up 2-0 after a goal by Dominic Dono in the 44th minute.

Wisconsin was unable to slow MSU down in the second half, as Richie Ludwig found his second goal of the net in the 49th minute.

Key Notes:

Tonight's match against No. 11 Michigan State was Wisconsin's fourth-straight match against opponents ranked in the top 11. The Badgers went 0-2-2 during the stretch.
Luke Shrivers played his first minutes in goal this season, making two saves.
