MADISON, Wis. — Former Wisconsin lightweight rower Claire Friedlander has been named to the US Rowing squad and will compete at the 2026 World Championships, which runs from August 24-30 in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
Friedlander will row in the lightweight women's single sculls event. The former Badger brings previous international rowing experience, having competed in the lightweight quadruple sculls at the 2022 World Rowing Under-23 Championships in Varese, Italy.
The Philadelphia native won the lightweight women's single sculls trial on Mercer Lake in New Jersey, covering the distance in 7:51.81 to meet the time standard and qualify for the World Championships.
Friedlander rowed for Wisconsin from 2019-23, participating across the lightweight varsity eight and lightweight fours. In 2021, she received Academic All-Big Ten honors while helping the team to a 61-point, first-place finish at the IRA Championships.
