
Five things to know: Men’s tennis hits the road for two matches

No. 35 Wisconsin travels to No. 64 Indiana and Purdue
1 – SPRING BREAK SUCCESS – The Badgers played one match last weekend, against No. 49 Nebraska. While the Huskers took the early 1-0 lead with two doubles wins, Wisconsin quickly bounced back in singles play. Sophomores Patrik Meszaros and Ferdinand Kloesters earned straight set victories at No.1 and No. 3 singles, respectively. Meszaros earned a ranked win, beating No. 107 Nikolay Sysoev.
Nebraska tied the score at two-all with a win at No. 5 singles before Edouard Aubert took a 6-2, 6-3 win over Nebraska's No. 4 singles to give the Badgers the lead. Michael Minasyan ultimately clinched the match at No. 2 singles, securing the 4-2 Wisconsin victory.
2 – MATCH CLINCH MIKE – Michael Minasyan earned his sixth match win of the spring in clinching fashion against Nebraska on Saturday. The senior defeated Nebraska's Jeri Lassila 7-5, 6-4 at No. 2 singles. The straight set victory gave Wisconsin its fourth point of the afternoon, securing the 4-2 team win.
3 – KNOW YOUR OPPONENTS – The Badgers trail 29-54 in the all-time series against Indiana. Last spring Indiana took a 4-2 win over Wisconsin. The Hoosiers are 9-9 overall and 3-6 in conference action this season. Matteo Antonescu and Michael Andre lead Indiana in doubles play, and are currently ranked No. 37 in the ITA rankings.
In the all-time series against Purdue, Wisconsin holds a 65-24 edge, most recently winning a non-conference match earlier this spring. Heading into the weekend the Boilermakers have a 4-14 overall record and are 0-9 in conference play. Aleksa Krivokapic and Maj Premzl are ranked No. 56 in the most recent ITA rankings.
4 – FOLLOW THE ACTION – Wisconsin will hit the road for two conference matches this weekend. On Friday, April 10 the Badgers will face No. 64 Indiana at 3 p.m. CT.
