Senior kicks off pro career with Montreal Canadiens’ AHL affiliate
MADISON, Wis. – Senior defenseman Aiden Dubinsky is off to Quebec to start his pro career, signing a Professional Tryout (PTO) contract with the Laval Rocket, AHL affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens, the franchise announced on Wednesday.
Dubinsky transferred to the Badgers from Minnesota Duluth for his senior season, tallying two goals and six points in his final year of college hockey.
"It's really exciting. All the hard work I've done growing up is paying off to finally become a pro," Dubinsky said. "My college career made me the player I am. I also look up to my parents and my brother as role models and I couldn't be here without them."
The defenseman and former Bulldog assistant captain has nine goals and 40 points in 141 college games played, as well as 151 career blocks and one power-play goal scored his sophomore year. His 22 blocks in 2025-26 rank fifth on the UW roster, and his two goals rank fifth among Badger blueliners.
From Highland Park, Illinois, Dubinsky is a three-time NCHC Academic All-Conference Team member and three-time NCHC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete.
Before starting his NCAA career, the senior skated for the USHL's Tri-City Storm in 2021-22 and Omaha Lancers in 2020-21.
"The coaching staff really caught my eye. The guys in that locker room are awesome. Everybody is extremely close. It's a brotherhood and I'm proud to be a part of it.
