Stricker and Wu lead the pack in 37th
PEORIA, Ariz. — The Wisconsin women's golf team sits in 11th at +8 after Day 1 of the Westbrook Invitational on Sunday at the Westbrook Golf Course in Peoria, Arizona.
The Badgers played 36-holes on Sunday, with the final round teeing off Monday at 9:30 a.m. CT. It's the 15-straight year UW has hosted the Westbrook, seeking similar success as year's prior.
Izzi Stricker and Tammy Wu lead Wisconsin, tied for 37th-place. Stricker finished Round 1 at +3, before firing a near career-low 69 to head into the clubhouse at even-par. She holed out on the Par 4, 13th-hole, for an eagle to spark a -4 back-nine. Wu joined her at even following two 72s, posting a bogey-free stretch during the first nine, and final 36, holes.Â
True freshman Grace Slocum is in 49th after putting up a young-career low of 71 (-1) in the first round. She shot +3 on the day, battling back in the final nine-hole stretch with an eagle and a birdie.Â
Alexia Siehl and Kate Brody split the scoring as Siehl shot +1 in Round 1, while Brody was +4 in Round 2.Â
Competing individually, true freshman Elyssa Abdullah posted a pair of 74s to land in 56th. Sophomore Lauren Sammon is in 62nd following a second-round 73 (+1), where she yielded zero bogeys on the final 12 holes.Â
