Badgers split up for meets at Notre Dame and Milwaukee

Select sprints, distance head to Notre Dame as throwers travel to Milwaukee
MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin men's track and field team compete in two meets this weekend: the Panther Tune-Up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on Saturday, Feb 21 and the Alex Wilson Invite at Notre Dame on Feb. 21.The two meets will be the last before the 2026 Big Ten Indoor Track and Field Championships on Feb. 26-28. The Badgers will send throwers to Milwaukee while select sprints and distance head to Notre Dame.

OUT EAST: At the BU David Hemery Valentine Invite, Matan Ivri dominated the 3000 meters, winning in 7 minutes, 43.88 seconds. His performance moved him to third all-time in the Wisconsin record book and now ranks No. 8 in the Big Ten this season. The time also stands as a new Israeli national record and marked an eight-second personal best for the Shimshit, Israel native.
DOWN SOUTH: At the Jarvis Scott Invitational at Texas Tech, Joshua Onwunili advanced out of the 60-meter prelims before cloning 6.74 in the semifinals, improving his standing on the Wisconsin all-time list from No. 10 to No. 7. Onwunili also led the badgers in the 200 meters, placing 17th in 21.19, a mark that now ranks No. 4 in program history and gives him his second top-10 performance of the weekend. Jalen Williams followed closely in 19th with a tie of 21.28, moving him to No. 6 all-time at Wisconsin. Wisconsin closed the meet with a standout relay performance as Williams, Zion Omotesa, Micah Walker and Andrew Casey combined to run 3:07.29, placing fifth and climbing to No. 2 in the Wisconsin record books.
B1G MOMENTS: Several Badgers enter the weekend positioned among the Big Ten's best. Jalen Williams holds the No. 5 spot in the conference in the 400 meters with his 45.84 performance, while Henry Risser sits at No. 10 in the 600 meters after running 1:17.09. Matan Ivri's 7:43.88 ranks him eighth in the Big Ten in the 3000 meters and the 4x400-meter relay of Walker, Williams, Omotesa and Casey stands fifth in the conference with a time of 3:07.71. In the multis, Darius Jones II is currently sixth in the heptathlon with 5703 points.
DMR RETURNS: Wisconsin first fielded a distance medley relay this season at the Indiana Invitational in January, where LIam Newhart, Lorenz Forsmann, Patrick Hilby and Bryce Stachewicz ran 9:38.97. The weekend marks the debut of a new lineup, as Casey, Liam Newhart, Williams and Omotesa join forces for the Badgers' second DMR appearance of the year.
UP NEXT: The Badgers travel to Indianapolis, Indiana, for the 2026 Big Ten Indoor Championships starting on Feb. 26. UW took home third place last year, marking the third-straight year the Badgers have placed top three at the meet.
