Badgers face Wildcats on Wednesday
MADISON, Wis. - The Wisconsin men's soccer team (10-2-4, 3-2-4 B1G) wraps up its regular season with a match against Northwestern (5-6-4, 2-4-3 B1G) on Wednesday, Nov. 4. Kickoff in Evanston, Illinois, is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT.
Here are five things to know before the final regular-season match.
1 – SENIOR NIGHT SUCCESS – Wisconsin scored a 2-1 victory over Michigan last Friday with seniors Joaquin Torres and Ellis Jones notching the Badgers' goals. Ten seniors were celebrated pregame, followed by 90 minutes of Wisconsin dominating on the pitch. The Badgers outshot Michigan 18-8 and took a 2-0 lead into the 90th minute of the game before the Wolverines converted on a penalty kick. The win marked Wisconsin's 10th of the season, its first 10-win season under Head Coach Neil Jones.
2 – THE FORTRESS – The Badgers finished with an undefeated 8-0-2 record at McClimon during the regular season. The last time Wisconsin went undefeated at home was in 2016 when it posted a 9-0-1 record at McClimon. The Badgers are currently on a 15-match unbeaten streak at home dating back to last season.
3 – SCOUTING NORTHWESTERN – The Wildcats are currently 8th in the Big Ten standings and have not won a match since beating Michigan 1-0 on Sept. 25. Peter Riesz is pacing Northwestern's offense with 11 points (4 goals, 3 assists), and Italo Addimandi is right behind him with four goals of his own. Dominic Pereira has made 13 starts for the Wildcats, posting a 1.411 goals-against average and recording four shutouts this season.
4 – HISTORY WITH THE WILDCATS – UW holds a 32-13-9 advantage in the all-time series against Northwestern. Last season the Badgers earned a 1-0 shutout victory over the Wildcats at McClimon. Wisconsin's game-winning goal came in the 87th minute of the contest.
