Badgers outshoot Huskers 21-10 in road contest
LINCOLN, Neb. — No. 20 Wisconsin women's soccer (7-2-3) played Nebraska (3-3-6) to a 0-0 draw on Sunday afternoon at Barbara Hibner Field.
How it happened
Wisconsin generated the first opportunity of the match in the ninth minute when Erin Connolly had an attempt blocked. Nebraska responded with a shot on goal from Nathalie Lewis in the 14th minute, but Stover made the save.
Delaney Cox recorded Wisconsin's first shot on goal in the 19th minute, forcing Nebraska goalkeeper Avery Gillahan into a save. The Badgers continued to create opportunities throughout the opening 45 minutes, finishing the half with eight shots compared to Nebraska's three, but the match remained scoreless at halftime.
Second Half
Wisconsin increased the pressure after the break. Anya Gulbrandsen and Abby Ballek put consecutive attempts on frame in the 51st and 52nd minutes, but Gillahan stopped both.
Jane Rogers created two of Wisconsin's best opportunities late in the match, putting shots on goal in the 72nd and 77th minutes. Ballek followed with another shot on target in the 80th, but Gillahan made all three saves to keep the Badgers off the board.
Wisconsin continued to push in the closing minutes, with Connolly, Taylor Gordon and Hailey Baumann each recording attempts, but neither side found the breakthrough.
Wisconsin outshot Nebraska 21-10, including a 13-7 advantage in the second half. The Badgers also held a 6-3 edge in shots on goal, while both teams finished with three corner kicks. Rogers led Wisconsin with five shots, while Connolly recorded three. Gillahan made six saves for Nebraska, while Stover stopped all three shots she faced.
