Badgers host Evansville on Tuesday and travel to Penn State on Saturday
MADISON, Wis. - The No. 18 Wisconsin men's soccer team (8-2-3, 2-2-3 B1G) plays its last non-conference match of the season against the Evansville Aces (3-7-2, 2-1-0 MVC) on Tuesday, Oct. 20 at McClimon. The Badgers will get back to conference play on Saturday, Oct. 24 when they play a road match against Penn State (2-7-2, 0-5-2 B1G). Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. CT and 6 p.m. CT, respectively.
Here are five things to know before this week's matches.
1 – FRIDAY NIGHT THRILLER – Wisconsin earned its first top-10 win since 2023 in a seven-goal thriller against No. 10 UCLA last Friday. The Bruins scored first, but the Badgers' offense came alive, scoring 4 goals to secure the 4-3 victory. The four goal barrage was Wisconsin's most in a Big Ten match since beating No. 12 UCLA, 4-1, in 2024.
2 – JONES DELIVERS – Senior defenseman Ellis Jones delivered the game-winning goal in the 75th minute of last Friday's contest. The match was tied at three-all after each team scored via penalty kick in the second-half. With 15 minutes left in the game, Julian Kuhr sent the ball towards the box where Aidan Martinez redirected it towards a crashing Jones. The one-timer flew past the Bruins' keeper to secure the Badgers' victory.
3 – KNOW THE ACES – UW trails 7-13-1 in the all-time series against Evansville. The teams last played in 2004 when the Aces earned a 2-1 victory over the Badgers. Wisconsin's most recent victory came in overtime fashion in 1998. Evansville is currently third in the Missouri Valley Conference with Alejandro Fernandez leading the team in scoring (3 goals, 1 assist).
4 – SCOUTING THE NITTANY LIONS – UW trails 15-22-4 in the all-time series against Penn State. The Badgers are on a two-match win streak in the series, earning 2-0 victories over the Nittany Lions during the last two seasons. Last year, Roman Eisa and Matthew Zachemski scored to give Wisconsin the shutout win.
Penn State is winless in conference play through seven matches. Daniel Peluffo-Wiese has started every game in goal, posting a 1.909 goals against average and a 0.596 save percentage. Senior Amadou Kone leads the Nittany Lions' offense with eight points on three goals and two assists.
5 – HOW TO FOLLOW – Tuesday's match will be played at the Badgers' McClimon Soccer Complex, with admission free to all. The Badgers travel to University Park for Saturday's match.
