Freshman earns second league honor
MADISON, Wis. – Kendra Lewis of the Wisconsin softball team has been named Big Ten Freshman of the Week, announced by the Big Ten Monday afternoon.
For the second time this season, freshman Kendra Lewis earned Big Ten Freshman of the Week for the week of Monday, April 21.
Lewis helped the Badgers to an undefeated week with a doubleheader sweep over North Dakota State and two conference wins over Minnesota. In those four games, Lewis batted .455 (5-for-11) with two runs, a home run, and seven RBI. The Milan, Illinois native also slashed a .727 slugging percentage and .455 on-base percentage for a combined 1.182 OPS. Entering Monday's game against the Gopher, Lewis is on a nine-game hitting streak – the second longest hitting streak in her freshman campaign.
The Badgers will wrap up the three-game series against Minnesota tonight at 6 p.m. on the Big Ten Network.
