Women’s hockey leads Badgers to Top-5 national ranking

The Badgers closed out the season with a nation-leading 424.70 points in the winter, bringing their overall total to 693.70, good for third place behind North Carolina (843.25) and Stanford (750.60).
The Cardinal and White rank at No. 1 among Big Ten programs after a successful athletics season, as Ohio State currently sits at No. 4 with 683.75 points.
The women's hockey team made history by capturing the program's eighth national championship, with forward Casey O'Brien earning the prestigious Patty Kazmaier Award as the top player in women's collegiate hockey. The team's success contributed 100 points to Wisconsin's total.
The men's and women's swimming and diving teams both recorded top-25 finishes at the NCAA Championships. Phoebe Bacon was honored as Swimmer of the Championships at the Big Ten meet, further highlighting the teams' strong performances. The women's swimming and diving team finished 12th in the Directors' Cup standings, earning 64.5 points.
Both the men's and women's track teams earned top-20 finishes at the NCAA Indoor Championships, with Taylor Kesner capturing the national championship in the weight throw, adding further success to the Badgers' winter season.
The men's basketball team recorded 27 wins, secured another NCAA Tournament appearance, and finished 17th in the Directors' Cup standings.
Wisconsin also earned 44 points from wrestling, where Zan Fugitt earned All-American status at 133 pounds.
The Learfield Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships.
