Badgers return home and celebrate Senior Day
MADISON Wis. - The No. 25 Wisconsin Badgers will return home to Madison after their West Coast trip. They will take on the Purdue Boilermakers, and the Indiana Hoosiers where they will celebrate Senior day.
ÂThey will play Purdue on Friday, April 11th at 5 PM CST, and then take on Indiana on Sunday, April 13 at 12 PM CST. The Badgers have been excellent against the Boilermakers, holding an all time record of 33-20 in their matchups. It has been a struggle against Indiana, but they did win their match against the Hoosiers last season.
ÂBADGERS IN THE RANKINGS: The Badgers slipped slightly in the rankings after their trip to Los Angeles. They are now 25th in the country after being 19th last week. Maria Sholokhova comes in at No. 7 in the singles rankings this week, while Taylor Cataldi is No. 105. The doubles duo of Ariel Johnson and Maria Sholokhova saw a massive jump in their ranking after showing their prowess all season. They jumped 39 spots from 86 all the way up to 47 this week.Â
ÂSCOUTING THE BOILERMAKERS: Purdue comes into their match with the Badgers at 10-6 on the season and losers of their last two matches. Laura Glitz leads the Boilermakers in her 18th season at the helm in West Lafayette. She is the winningest head coach in Purdue's history with over 200 career wins. The Boilermakers are currently 10th in the Big Ten standings with a 4-5 record in conference play. They have impressive wins over Rutgers and Maryland where they dominated both games. The Boilermakers have a good amount of experience on their team with three Seniors and three Juniors. They also have a pair of sisters, Ashlie Wilson and Kathryn Wilson who are two years apart.
ÂSCOUTING THE HOOSIERS: The Hoosiers are 8-11 on the season and 2-7 in conference play, making them 15th in the Big Ten standings. Head coach Gabrielle Moore is in her first season leading the Hoosiers with her previous tenure at Mcneese State being a successful one. She guided the Cowgirls to a 35-10 record in her two seasons there. The Hoosiers have a relatively young team, with only two upperclassmen. However, they are led by Redshirt Senior, Lara Schneider. The Hoosiers are coming off their most impressive win of the season versus No.58 Michigan State, where they took down the Spartans in convincing fashion at home.
ÂUP NEXT: The Badgers will embark on their final homestand of the season, heading to Ohio State on Saturday, April 19th and Penn State on Sunday, April 20th.
