1. LAST TIME OUT: The Badgers competed in the DePaul Invite last Saturday, putting together a solid performance to prepare for the upcoming Wisconsin Windy City Invite. Danni Langseth was the lone individual to win an event, as she was victorious in the shot put with a heave of 53 feet (16.15m). Between the two throwing events, Wisconsin took home seven of the top-10 spots to wrap up another meet in Chicago. Kylie Finger notched fourth place in the mile and Karina Janik finished in the top-5 in the 400 meters—continuing to develop as the indoor season hits the home stretch.
2. AT OUR BEST: At the DePaul Invite, multiple personal bests were achieved, in addition to a couple of debuts for the Badgers. Annika Elliott was a standout, turning in her first-ever sub-5 minute mile—sprinting a 4:59.21 in Chicago. Zaira Malloy-Salgado and Rachel Robinson each put together their personal best performances in the 3000 meters and 200 meters, respectively. Hadley Lucas improved her top mark by nearly two feet in the shot put, while Morgan Flaska and Nora Skoraczewski each competed unattached.Â
3. EYES ON THE BIG TEN: With only a couple of weeks left before the Big Ten Championships, Wisconsin currently hosts multiple individuals who rank within the top-5 of the Big Ten in their individual event. Chloe Lindeman leads the pack with the second-highest mark in the weight throw in the Big Ten at 74-8 ¼ (22.76m). Taylor Kesner joins her at No. 4, while Chikere Oduocha is at No. 7. As for the runners, Emma Kelley holds the fifth-fastest 600 meters time at 1:29.17. Kiley Robbins, Leane Willemse, Shea Ruhly and Fiona McLoughlin all rank within the top-10 in their individual events as well. To round it out for the Badgers, the DMR of Mya Bunke, Emma Kruse, Kelley and Willemse is fourth in the conference with a time of 11:16.71.Â
4. GREATNESS AT GATELY: The Wisconsin Windy City Invite marks the fourth time the Badgers are competing at Gately this season, as they have made some noise in Chicago leading up to this host meet. Emma Kelley kicked off the season with a top-10 mark in the 600 meters at the Chicago State Invite—continuing to improve as the season progressed. Taylor Kesner moved to fifth place on UW's Indoor Track history at the Wisconsin Midwest Invite before rising to second all-time a couple of weeks later.Â
5. UP NEXT: The Badgers are back on the road next weekend, competing at both the Red Bird Tune-up and Alex Wilson Invite. The Red Bird Tune-up will take place on Friday, Feb. 21 in Normal, Illinois, while the Alex Wilson Invite will get underway on Saturday, Feb. 22 in South Bend, Indiana.Â
