UW looks to improve to 27-1 in Kohl Center home openers
MADISON, Wis. – The No. 24 Wisconsin men’s basketball team opens its regular season against Campbell Monday, Nov. 3, at the Kohl Center. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. and tickets are available on UWBadgers.Com.
Monday marks the 128th season in program history, and head coach Greg Gard’s 11th campaign at the helm.
Fans that can’t make it to Madison can watch on Big Ten Plus or listen on the Badger Radio Network as Matt Lepay and Brian Butch have the call.
1. LAST TIME OUT: The Badgers topped UW-Platteville 69-53 in their final exhibition of the preseason. The contest marked the ninth-annual Garding Against Cancer Game, and the second all-time matchup between the Badgers’ Gard, and his brother - UW-Platteville head coach Jeff Gard. Badger junior forward Nolan Winter dropped a game-high 17 points and 15 rebounds, pouring in 8-of-11 shots from the field.
2. FIGHTING THE CAMELS: Wisconsin matches up with Campbell for the first time in program history. The Fighting Camels underwent a seismic offseason shift, tabbing John Andrzejek as the new head coach. He’s the sixth head coach in their program’s history and comes off a 2025 National Champion as an assistant with Florida. Andrzejek has brought in a myriad of roster additions, including preseason All-CAA forward Dovydas Butka. The 6-foot-9 Lithuanian played youth level basketball at the domestic and international levels with current Badger true freshman Aleksas Bieliauskas.
3. SWINGING OUT THE GATE: Wisconsin has won 26 of its last 27 home openers at the Kohl Center, including last season’s 86-61 victory over Holy Cross. UW is 9-0 in season home openers under Coach Gard, and 8-1 in overall season openers. The only blemish in a season opener came in a 65-63 overtime loss to St. Mary’s at a neutral site in 2019.
4. ‘TIS THE SEASON: Regular season hoops kicks off in full gear Monday as the Badgers open the season with four mid-major matchups. Following Campbell, they’ll play Northern Illinois on Friday, Nov. 7, before taking on Ball State the Tuesday after (Nov. 11). The Badgers complete their homestead a week later against SIUE on Nov. 17, before a trip out west with a matchup against No. 8 BYU on Nov. 21 in Salt Lake City, and the Rady Children’s Invitational over Thanksgiving in San Diego. UW is set to face Providence on Thanksgiving day (Nov. 27) before facing either TCU or No. 3 Florida on Nov. 28.

5. SALUTE TO SERVICE: UW’s Nov. 11 matchup with Ball State marks the annual Military Appreciation Game. Join the Badgers as they honor those who have served our country throughout the game. Tip is set for 7:30 p.m., while doors open at 6:00 p.m. The first 5,000 Badger fans in attendance will receive a free rally towel. View the full promotional schedule here.
