Freshman picks up first career Big Ten weekly honor
MADISON, Wis. – After making 44 saves, going a perfect 11-for-11 on shootout attempts and backstopping Wisconsin to two comeback ties in its home-opening series against Minnesota State last weekend, freshman goaltender Daniel Hauser was named the Big Ten Second Star of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday.Â
In game one, the freshman made 21 saves, including three in the five-minute 3-on-3 sudden death overtime period, to help the Badgers to a 1-1 tie with the Mavericks. He then made four saves in the four round exhibition shootout before freshman forward Bruno Idžan scored the winner to send the Kohl Center home happy.
During Friday's game two, Hauser made 23 stops to give Wisconsin the opportunity to erase a two-goal deficit in the second period to finish the contest with a 2-2 tie. The Chestermere, Alberta, native, was yet again perfect in the exhibition shootout, making seven saves to total 11 shootout stops on the weekend.Â

This marks Hauser's first career Big Ten weekly honor and Wisconsin's second of the 2025-26 season. Senior forward Christian Fitzgerald was the Badgers' most recent star of the week, earning the conference's third star on Oct. 7.
Hauser and the No. 17/16 Badger men's hockey team welcome Alaska to the Kohl Center on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 24-25.
