Five Things to Know: Wisconsin Wrestling Showcase

No. 11 Wisconsin hosts Drexel among three NCAA dual event at UW Field House
MADISON, Wis. - No. 11 Wisconsin (5-1, 0-0 Big Ten) returns home to host the Wisconsin Wrestling Showcase at the UW Field House in Madison on Sunday, Dec. 11 at 1 p.m. CT. UW will wrestle Drexel in the Showcase's NCAA Division I match.
The Showcase will also feature both NCAA Division II and Division III matches. In Division II, Wisconsin-Parkside will wrestle McKendree and in Division III, Wisconsin-La Crosse will wrestle Cornell (Iowa).
Both matches will also start at 1 p.m. CT and the UW Field House will feature all three mats on the main floor at the same time. Video live streaming will not be available for Division II or Division III however at this time.

Here are five more things to know before the Badgers step on the mat on Sunday:
1. LAST TIME OUT: Wisconsin improved to 5-1 overall this season after earning two wins at the 2022 Garden State Grapple in Newark, N.J., at the Prudential Center, home of the NHL's New Jersey Devils. Wisconsin earned a dominant 38-3 victory against No. 12 Princeton followed by a 27-9 victory against Penn to go undefeated. Eric Barnett (125) and Austin Gomez (149) added pins to their season stats, with Barnett setting a new personal best with a pin in only 22 seconds over Penn's Ryan Miller. Six Badgers overall finished unscathed — Barnett, Gomez, Joe Zargo (149), Dean Hamiti (165), Tyler Dow (184), Braxton Amos and heavyweight Trent Hillger. Read the full recap here on UWBadgers.com.
2. NICE HELMET: Braxton Amos (197 pounds) was selected as the Spartan Combat Most Outstanding Wrestler of the Big Ten schools after earning two key victories against ranked opponents. No. 20 Amos upset No. 19 Luke Stout (Princeton) with a 3-1 overtime decision and then picked off No. 27 Cole Urbas (Penn) with a major decision, 9-1. His trophy is a gold life-size spartan helmet.

3. GROSS AT WORLD CUP: Wisconsin assistant coach Seth Gross — a former NCAA Champion and three-time NCAA All-American — wrestles this weekend in Iowa at the 2022 World Cup with Team USA's senior men. Gross is competing in the 61 kilogram men's freestyle competition down in Coralville, Iowa with USA Wrestling. Team USA will wrestle Mongolia at 10 a.m. CT on Saturday, Dec. 10 and then Georgia at 6 p.m. that evening. Third-place and first-place matches will occur on Sunday, Dec. 11. 4. SCOUTING THE DRAGONS: Drexel battled against Big Ten foes Indiana and No. 19 Rutgers but were defeated in both duals at the Garden State Grapple on Sunday. The Dragons fought for six wins on the day but were downed 29-6 to the Hoosiers and 26-13 to the Scarlet Knights. No. 24 Evan Barczak led the team with a pair of wins against tough opponents. The graduate student moved to 10-2 overall this season. Brian Bonino, Dom D'Agostino, Cody Walsh , and Sean O'Malley picked up victories for the Dragons. Read the recap on DrexelDragons.com.
