MADISON, Wis.— The No. 2 Badgers are slated to host the No. 1 Golden Gophers for the first Border Battle of the season. The top-two showdown will take place on Friday and Saturday this week with both games starting at 2 p.m.

Here are five things to know before the puck drops on Friday at LaBahn.

1. LAST TIME OUT: Wisconsin split the series against Ohio State over the weekend, claiming four of the six points. The team took home a 3-2 win for Friday's game and fell to the Buckeyes 2-1 on Saturday after going into overtime. Highlighting the Badgers' stats, Nicole LaMantia scored a game-winning goal in Friday's game and Daryl Watts scored a goal in both games.

2. TV TIME FOR THE BADGERS: Fans will be able to watch the Border Battle on Saturday live on Fox Sports Wisconsin and on Fox Sports North. Brian Posick, Bill Brophy and Piper Shaw will have the call live from LaBahn Arena. Fans can also view the game via Big Ten Plus and the Fox Sports Go app.

Fans that can't watch on TV can tune into the game on 100.9 FM as Reid Magnum and Mark Greenhalgh will have the call.

3. BEHIND THE BORDER BATTLE: Wisconsin and Minnesota have both proven to be power-house teams. This matchup will be the 11th and 12th-consecutive meetings that either team has been ranked No. 1 in the nation. Combined, the programs have 12 NCAA titles, 18 WCHA regular-season titles and 15 WCHA tournament titles. Since the 2016-17 season, the Badgers lead the Golden Gophers 12-5-3, including a 6-3-1 record over the last 10 games.
4. TOP OF THE CROP: Both Wisconsin and Minnesota have consistently been ranked in the top two teams of the nation for the 2020-21 season. Coming into this weekend's matchup, the Golden Gophers are ranked No. 1 and the Badgers are ranked No. 2. Minnesota started the season ranked No. 4, held No. 3 for three weeks and then moved to No. 2 for two weeks. Wisconsin was ranked No. 1 for six weeks straight before moving to No. 2 this week.
5. UP NEXT: The Badgers will be headed to St. Cloud State for the team's third road series of the season. Taking place on Jan. 22-23, Friday's game will start at 3 p.m. and Saturday's at 2 p.m. Both games can be seen live on FloHockey.
