Badgers open conference play at home
MADISON, WIS.- The Badgers open conference play at the Kohl Center on Saturday, Dec. 28 at 2 p.m. against Rutgers.
Here are five things to know before tip-off.
1. Problem for the Panthers: Last contest, Wisconsin defeated Prairie View A&M, 68-42. The Badgers were led in scoring and rebounds by Sydney Hilliard and Imani Lewis, both of whom had double-doubles in that game.
2. Rising in the Ranks: Suzanne Gilreath and Kendra Van Leeuwen continue to climb Wisconsin's record books. After the last game, Gilreath had moved into a fifth-place tie for career three-point attempts with 558. Van Leeuwen's five assists against PVAMU launched her up two spots to eighth place for career assists with 372.
3. Rutgers Role Call: Rutgers is currently 10-1, their only loss coming from LSU. This is the team's best start since 2005. Redshirt junior guard Arella Guirantes has been named Big Ten Player of the Week twice this season, as well as being named to the Big Ten weekly honor roll four times. She is leading the team with an average 19.1 ppg and 7.1 rebounds and also leads the team in blocks and defensive rebounds. Tekia Mack is also averaging in the double digits for scoring with 14.7 ppg and 6.8 rebounds.
