BADGERS TRAVEL TO PARADISE JAM
The Badgers (2-1) make their first road trip of the season, traveling to Washington, D.C., for the Paradise Jam. Wisconsin takes on Syracuse (3-0), George Washington (2-2) and Vanderbilt (0-4) in the round-robin tournament.
The Badgers have ties to all three teams competing in the tournament. Tsipis returns to George Washington, where he coached for four seasons. Assistant coach Sasha Palmer served as an assistant coach at Syracuse for two years. Redshirt senior Kendall Shaw played at Vanderbilt for four seasons, including a redshirt year, before transferring to Wisconsin.

Wisconsin had a commanding first win in the Kohl Center and of the season, taking down Charlotte, 80-66. Three players were in double figures, including a game-leading 20 points from Suzanne Gilreath.
The Badgers fell to 1-1 on the season with a 67-34 loss to intra-state rival Green Bay last Wednesday. Junior Marsha Howard led UW with 13 points and eight rebounds.
UW got back on track, tabbing a close 77-74 victory over Southern. Four Badgers scored in double figures behind a career-high 25 points from Abby Laszewski. Senior Cayla McMorris recorded her second career double-double with 21 points and 13 rebounds.
CAREER NIGHT FOR ABBY
Sophomore Abby Laszewski had a career night vs. Southern, posting an all-time high of 25 points, shooting a best 10-14 (71.4 percent) from the field, and a peak 5-9 from the charity stripe, while adding a career best two blocks. The 6-3 forward needed only the first quarter to equal her previous career best of 10 points.
Laszewski has earned her first career starts this season, starting all three games. She ranks second on the team with 11.3 points per game while shooting a team-high .577, which ranks 11th in the Big Ten.
DOUBLE-DOUBLE FOR MCBUCKETS
Senior Cayla McMorris recorded her second career double-double with 21 points and a career high 13 rebounds vs. the Jaguars on Monday. The 6-0 guard scored 20-or-more points for the fifth time in her career to up her season average to a team-best 13.3 points per game, which ties for 23rd in the Big Ten. McMorris is also averaging a career-best 7.3 rebounds per game, which ranks second on the Badgers.
OFF THE BENCH
The Badgers put their bench to work vs. Southern, gathering 23 points from reserve players, with from Marsha Howard and 11 from Suzanne Gilreath. Howard had a career-best night from the free-throw line, going 8-9 (88.9 percent).
Against Charlotte, Gilreath and Courtney Fredrickson came off the bench to score 20 and 18 points, respectively. Fredrickson had a double-double, adding a career-high 11 rebounds.
On the season, Gilreath and Courtney Fredrickson come off the bench for the Badgers this season, scoring 11.3 and 7.7 points per game, respectively. Senior Kendall Shaw adds 3.5 points per game. Fredrickson adds 7.0 rebounds per game while Gilreath makes and takes the most 3-point attempts (7-21) for the team. Shaw has a team-best three blocks.
REBOUNDING BADGERS
Wisconsin outrebounded Southern 46-27, upping its season average to 40.3 rebounds per game. UW is giving up 32 boards per game for a plus 8.3 per game advantage. Â
The Badgers have three players that average 7.0-or-more rebounds per game. Junior Marsha Howard leads Wisconsin and ties for 12th in the Big Ten with 8.3 rebounds per game. Senior Cayla McMorris adds 7.3 boards per game, tying for 17th in the conference. Sophomore Courtney Fredrickson chips in 7.0 rebounds per game, tying for 19th in the B1G.
IMPROVED FREE THROWS
After struggling from the free-throw line the first two games of the season, the Badgers improved vs. Southern, shooting 72.5 percent (29-40).
UW shot 48 percent (12-25) vs. Charlotte and 40 percent (6-15) vs. Green Bay. Â

The Colonials are 2-2 on the season, losing their first two games at Princeton (72-52) and to South Dakota State (97-88) in overtime. GW has won their last two games at Towson (66-43) and Georgetown (65-54).
Senior Kelli Prange, a 6-5 forward, leads the team with 15 points per game while ranking second with 6.5 rebounds per game. Senior Brianna Cummings, a 5-10 guard, adds 11.8 pionts and 5.5 rebounds per game. She also shares team-high honors with 10 steals. Junior Kelsi Mahoney, a 6-1 forward, chips in 10 points per game. - Youth and seniority led the Badgers to a 77-74 last-minute win over Southern at the Kohl Center on Monday night.
- Sophomore Abby Laszewski recorded a career-high 25 points, hitting 10-of-14 from the field, while adding five rebounds. The 6-3 forward scored the go-ahead basket with 25 seconds to play in the game.
- Senior Cayla McMorris claimed her first double-double of the season and second of her career, putting up 21 points accompanied by 13 rebounds. With three seconds remaining, the 6-0 guard pulled down a defensive rebound before getting fouled and making to free throws to secure the win.
- Four Badgers scored in double figures, marking the first time since Feb. 12, 2017, at Michigan with a quartet of 10-plus scorers. In addition to Laszewski and McMorris, junior Marsha Howard added 12 points and Suzanne Gilreath chipped in 11.
- The Badgers outrebounded the Jaguars, 46-27, led by two Badgers who had double-digit rebounds. Both McMorris and Kendra Van Leeuwen tabbed career highs in boards with 13 and 10, respectively. It was the first time since Feb. 9, 2017 vs. Nebraska that two players had 10-plus rebounds.
- UW had 24 points off second chances vs. the Jaguars. On the season, the Badgers are outscoring foes 14.3 - 3.7 for second-chance points.
